Earlier Chapters
For 20 years, I served as Executive Director of the award-winning non-profit community arts organization, Artspace New Haven, which served 1,000 artists/year. I co-founded, and then produced City-Wide Open Studios, an inclusive annual visual arts festival of thematic commissions, pop-ups in empty commercial spaces, artist-curator networking and studio visits that incorporated more than 30 community partnerships. Secured grants, including IMLS support and multiple National Endowment for the Arts and Our Town awards, and support from national foundations. Oversaw construction and development of a 10,000 sq. ft Center for Contemporary Art and public pocket park in a historic district, led the organization through successive strategic plans and external assessments. Annually, invested 20% of the budget in programs to benefit New Haven public school teens. Mobilized 100+ volunteers/year.
I served a year long stint as the Deputy Director of the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, and before that ran Yale’s University Licensing Office. And before that I was a VP at Citicorp with rotations in Mergers & Acquisitions and in the Asia/Pacific Financial Institutions Group.
